ETA Australia Requirements

Anyone wishing to travel to Australia must have an ETA visa or the eVisitor visa. Both can or must be requested online before starting the trip.

For the eVisitor visa, a valid passport from one of the following countries is required: Andorra, Belgium, Brunei, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Greece, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Canada, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Austria, Portugal, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Singapore, Spain, South Korea, United States, and Vatican City. These countries can also apply for Australian eTA

However, passport holders from the other countries mentioned can only apply for Australian eTA. Registration can be done online on our website

If you want to work in Australia, you need a visa with a work permit. Working with the regular ETA or eVisitor visa is not permitted. The situation is different with study courses or training courses. These are permitted as long as they are limited to a maximum of three months.

In general, holders of an ETA or eVisitor visa can stay in Australia for a maximum of ninety days. If you want to stay longer in the country, you have to apply for a corresponding visitor visa (subclass 600).

How to apply for eTA Australia

Applying for Australian eTA is very simple. You can do it from your computer in just a few minutes. As we have mentioned above, you only need to have your passport at hand and know the dates on which you are going to travel to Australia.

First, you need to open an account on our website. You just need to create a username and password. Then, you have to fill out a form where we will ask you some basic questions such as: on what dates will you be in Australia, the purpose of your travel, and more.

A valid passport is also required to ensure that this runs smoothly. This must be valid at least three months after the departure date. If successfully issued, the eTA is valid for an unlimited number of visits to Australia within the next two years. In this case, the maximum possible duration of a visit to New Zealand is 90 days each. Finally, other things left is to upload the required documents and pay for the service fee. And voila! Everything is ready. It usually takes a few minutes for the approval process.

Do I have to take the eTA visa with me at the airport?

If you feel like it and you stay calmer, you can take your visa downloaded on your mobile or printed, but the reality is that it is not always necessary.

The whole process is fully digitized, and, as soon as you arrive at the counter of the airline, you only need to put your passport in your computer, and your visa will be detected. Without a tourist visa for Australia, they won't be able to print your boarding pass.

The same happens when you arrive at the airport in Australia. All you have to do when you arrive at customs is (smile, greet and) present your passport and passenger card.
