ELECTRONIC TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION (ETA)

What is eTA for Sri Lanka?

ETA is Electronic Travel Authorization, a paperless electronic entry permit to visit Sri Lanka without Visa. Here, you will find more information about it and how to apply for it.

For what purposes can I apply for eTA online?

The online system is currently available to people who are planning a tourist trip, business trip, or transit in Sri Lanka for a maximum of 30 days. A visit to a Sri Lankan diplomatic mission is required for all other visa categories.

How long is my eTA valid for?

eTA for Sri Lanka is usually valid for 3 months from the date of the issue. The stay is limited to 30 days from the first entry. Tourist visas entitle you to enter twice; transit visas entitle you to visit once for a maximum of 2 days.

How do I know if my permit is still valid for the next trip?

Status can be checked on our website with a personal reference number. If you order your online visa through us, we will provide you with the necessary access data.

Step by step to get eTA for Sri Lanka

Although this is a simple and quick process, I recommend that you request your authorization at least one week before travel.

When we took our permits, it did not take even 24 hours to receive letters of approval. However, it is always good to resolve this bureaucratic part a little in advance. The only thing you need to process your tourist visa or eTA is your passport. This must have more than 6 months of validity and several free pages.

# 1 Requesting ETA

To apply for ETA, you need to go to our website, choose each of the options we will list in sequence:

  • Click on “ Apply ”
  • Read the terms and conditions and click " I agree "
  • On the left side of the page choose: Tourist ETA - Apply for an individual
  • Complete the form (in English) with your personal information
  • We also have a translation of the page to other languages, so don’t worry about your English.
  • Confirm your details - pay close attention to the name, passport number, shipping dates and document validity.

# 2 Payment

Payment for Sri Lanka eTA may only be made by PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, or American Express credit cards.

Our website uses the MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa security codes. Therefore, every payment you will do is encrypted and protected. Once you have done with the payment, the only thing left is to wait for our confirmation of approval.

# 3 Receipt of Approval Letter

At the same time you submit the request, you will receive an email confirming the submission. About 10 minutes later, you will receive the letter of approval by email! You won’t realize it will be so fast!

Caution: Don't forget to print the letter of approval you will receive by email. Without it, airline authorities may prevent you from boarding to Sri Lanka.

Arrival in Sri Lanka

Upon arrival, they checked our passports, pasted a sticker (which is a visa) and stamped the entry. They asked me absolutely nothing. When you are leaving the country, they only stamped their passports with no question.
