eTA Canada - Canada visa application

ELECTRONIC TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION (ETA)

What is ETA Canada?

Prior to March 15, 2016, some countries did not require a travel authorization or visa to travel to Canada for short-term travel.
Recently, Canada has introduced a system called electronic travel authorization. This travel authorization system, called eTA, permits applicants to visit Canada through an easy online eTA application process, only for those with a nationality of a visa-exempt country wishing to visit Canada.
Although it is not officially a visa, it is also called a travel visa for convenience because it is similar to a travel visa. The eTA is valid for up to five years or until the passport they use to request it expires, and it is recommended to do the procedure before booking your flight to Canada.
With this permission, you can travel to Canada as many times as they want and they can stay there for up to six months. However, if you currently have a valid visa to travel to Canada, it will not be necessary to process an eTA. With the visa, you can enter this country without a problem until it expires.

How to Apply for eTA Canada?

The eTA is not a visa, so processing it is very simple. The entire process is completed in just a few minutes through the Internet. You only need three things:

  • A passport that is valid up to 6 months from the day you come to Canada
  • Credit or debit card
  • Valid email address
Then, click here to start filling the application form. When you start filling out the document, you must first indicate if you will complete the application in your name, or in that of another person (a minor, for example). You will have to select the option and then specify what type of passport you will present when traveling to Canada.

Next, you must complete a series of data that will appear: name and surname; passport number; nationality; date of birth; gender; country and city of birth, as well as the date of issuance and expiration of the passport. After this, the traveler will be asked to indicate his marital status and will be asked if he has previously requested an eTA to visit Canada. The applicant will also have to explain what their occupation is, the job title, the name of the company, the location of the company, and the age of the company.

After entering the labor data, the foreigner must choose in what language he wants to be contacted by the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration of Canada (IRCC), whether if you prefer French or English. Then, you will add an email and a postal address to receive immigration notification.

The next window displayed is related to the trip data. You must indicate the date and the approximate duration of the trip, and if you have not confirmed the flight yet, you must indicate it. Next, you have to answer some questions related to security, as if you have been denied a visa, if you have committed a crime, if you have tuberculosis or if you are addicted to drugs.

Finally, to state that all the information provided is true, the last step of the form asks the applicant to write their full name, by the way of electronic signature. It must be exact to the name that appears on the passport.

What happens after filling out the form?

Once the application is completed, you will receive an email in which the Canadian Ministry of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship confirm that he has received the procedure. Then, the agency will send a second email to inform you that the eTA has been approved or denied.

The progress can be followed through our website and email updates. When your eTA is approved, you can already travel to Canada, and your passport has already been linked to the eTA. Usually, the approval can range from a few minutes to up to 3 days.
